Middle East conflicts drive European demand for electric cars, with sales in April increasing by 34% compared to the previous year.
Due to the conflict in the Middle East leading to high fuel prices, the demand for electric cars in the European market has surged. Data shared by research institution New Automotive and industry organization E-Mobility Europe shows that in April, the registration of new electric cars in Europe increased by 34% compared to the same period last year. This data covers 16 markets, which make up over 80% of the car sales in the European Union and European Free Trade Association. The search volume for new and used electric cars on online platforms has also significantly increased, with Chinese brands seeing particularly notable growth due to their more affordable models. German car trading platform Carwow reported a 25000% increase in inquiries for BYD vehicles, a 436% increase for Zero Run cars, and a 153% increase for Xiaopeng vehicles in the first quarter.
