The National Disaster Reduction and Relief Commission has initiated a national level four disaster relief emergency response to guide Guizhou in carrying out flood and geological disaster relief work.

On May 19, the National Committee for Disaster Reduction and Relief initiated a national level IV emergency response in response to the recent severe flooding and geological disasters in Guizhou province. A working group was dispatched to the disaster area to assess the situation on the ground, and to provide guidance and assistance to the local authorities in ensuring the basic living needs of the affected population and other disaster relief efforts.
