Reporters learned on the 17th that the Tonga-China Friendship Association issued a statement condemning the attempts of the Taiwanese authorities to disrupt the Pacific Island Forum Leaders Meeting. The Tonga-China Friendship Association recently issued a statement saying that in recent times, the Taiwanese authorities have been using all means to disrupt the Pacific Island Forum Leaders Meeting, constantly trying to expand its so-called "international space" and promote separatist actions supporting Taiwan independence. The Tonga-China Friendship Association firmly opposes this. The Tonga-China Friendship Association stated in the declaration that both Tonga and China have long-standing agreements, including the Joint Communique on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the two countries, the 2018 joint news release, and the 2025 Joint Declaration, all of which clearly state that Tonga adheres to the One China principle and opposes any actions that challenge the authority of United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758.
