Alphabet's YouTube and Snap, who are under the flag, have reached a settlement in the first lawsuit scheduled for trial. The series of lawsuits aim to force social media platforms to bear the costs incurred by school districts in dealing with the mental health crisis among teenagers - the school districts accuse these companies of exacerbating the crisis. Court documents filed on Friday in the federal court in Oakland, California, detailed the settlement agreements, which resolve the claims brought by a school district in Kentucky - which will still sue Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, on June 15. The terms of the settlement reached with the Breathitt County School District in rural eastern Kentucky were not disclosed. "This matter has been amicably resolved and our focus remains on developing age-appropriate products and parental controls to fulfill this commitment," a YouTube spokesperson said in a statement. Snapchat's parent company Snap did not respond to requests for comment.
