On May 8th, Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations, Ling Ji, met with the Director of the General Directorate of the Treasury of the French Ministry of Economy, Finance, Industry, Energy, and Digital Sovereignty, Dumont. They exchanged views on China-France, China-EU economic and trade relations. Ling Ji stated that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China-France economic and trade cooperation continues to deepen, with trade and investment diversifying. China is willing to work with France to implement the "Memorandum of Understanding on Strengthening Bilateral Investment between China and France" to provide an open, fair, and non-discriminatory business environment for investment cooperation. China highly values the series of foreign subsidy investigations by the EU on Chinese companies' investment and trade, as well as the recent introduction of the "Industrial Accelerator Act" and the draft amendment to the "Cybersecurity Law" as trade restriction tools. They believe that these measures will create trade and investment barriers and institutional discrimination, severely affecting normal economic and trade cooperation between China and the EU and global supply chain stability. They hope that France will play an active role in pushing the EU to maintain market openness and resolving China-EU economic and trade disputes and frictions through dialogue and negotiation.
