Apple will allow users to choose from a range of external artificial intelligence services to support various functions of its software. This move aims to advance its strategy of turning its devices into comprehensive AI platforms. Sources familiar with the matter say that users will be able to choose from multiple third-party AI models for tasks such as generating and editing text and images. This change is expected to be introduced with the launch of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 in the fall of this year. According to Bloomberg News in March, Apple plans to open up Siri to external AI assistants, aiming to strengthen the iPhone's position as an AI platform. The Apple Smart Platform launched in 2024 currently only offers ChatGPT as a third-party option in functions such as Siri, "writing tools," and "Image Lab." This is all part of Apple's efforts to gain an advantage in the AI market, but with a different approach. The company is not only relying on its own best AI software and services, but is also striving to make it convenient for users to access a variety of choices on their devices.
