The Netherlands will transfer two suspected cases of the Hantavirus from a quarantined cruise ship.
The cruise operator dealing with the recent cases of infection with the Hantan virus stated that the Dutch government will try to send back to the Netherlands the two suspected cases still on board for treatment. Officials from the World Health Organization stated on the 4th that the risk posed to public health by this infection event is low, and there is "no need to panic." In a statement dated the 3rd, the cruise operator involved, the "Pan Sea Adventure" company, confirmed that a "serious medical event" has occurred on board the cruise ship "Hondius," resulting in 3 deaths, with 2 deaths on board and 1 after disembarking; another person is currently receiving intensive care in Johannesburg, South Africa, while the 2 people still on board "require urgent medical treatment."
