Multiple banks have announced a suspension of some credit cards. The credit card industry is now shifting towards a more refined management in the era of existing accounts.
According to CCTV Finance, recently, several banks have announced the suspension of some credit card products, mainly including co-branded credit cards, themed credit cards, etc. According to an announcement by Agricultural Bank of China, starting from May 15, the bank will stop issuing UnionPay and Mastercard branded university student youth cards; previously, Agricultural Bank of China had already stopped issuing Tianzhushan credit cards. After suspension, all channels of Agricultural Bank will no longer accept applications for the above products. On April 2, Minsheng Bank's credit card center also announced the suspension of issuing 11 credit card products including Minsheng Duodian co-branded credit cards, and related benefit activities have already expired. Some credit card products under Guangfa Bank and Bank of Communications have also gradually ceased issuance. Experts explain that the credit card market has become saturated. The recent concentrated suspension of themed cards and co-branded cards by banks is mainly related to the continuous increase in operating costs due to high IP licensing fees and some products with high dormant rates. With multiple factors driving it, the credit card industry is transitioning to a refined management era in the era of existing stocks.
