Ukraine claims that the sanctioned Russian oil tanker is using fake insurance.
According to an intelligence assessment from the Ukrainian side, some Russian shadow fleet oil tankers are using insurance certification from a company that does not actually exist to transport oil. Documents obtained by the Ukrainian foreign intelligence department reveal that Seaguard P&I, headquartered in Pinneberg, Germany, provided insurance certification for the oil tanker Paz, which is already under sanctions from the United States, United Kingdom, and the European Union. The Ukrainian foreign intelligence department assesses that such a commercial entity does not actually exist in Germany, and the address listed on the insurance documents and company website is actually a residential apartment building. The accuracy of this information cannot be confirmed. Requests for comment sent to the email listed on the Seaguard website have not been answered, and calls to the company's registered phone number have been unsuccessful.
