Honda will import the pure electric vehicle model "INSIGHT" from China.

On April 16, Honda announced that it will release a new electric car, the "INSIGHT". This model is produced in China and imported to Japan after being converted to Japanese specifications. Despite Honda previously announcing a strategic shift towards focusing on EVs, there is a lack of EV models in Japan, so they are expanding their product line through reverse imports. The vehicle is based on a pure electric SUV produced by a joint venture in China, with the aim of increasing the operating rate of Honda's factories in China which have been struggling due to poor sales. Following the minivan "Odyssey", this will be Honda's second Chinese-made model to be sold in Japan.
