French car manufacturer Renault is expanding its presence in the Indian market.
French carmaker Renault Group executives said on the 16th that they will increase their efforts in the Indian market, planning to launch 7 models including electric vehicles in India by 2030, aiming to make India one of the top three markets for Renault globally. Renault Group CEO Francois Provost said at an industry event in Chennai, India, that Renault plans to introduce hybrid, electric, and compressed natural gas vehicles in India, as well as small cars under four meters long as entry-level products to expand in the Indian market. The goal is to capture about 5% of the Indian car market by 2030. India is the world's third largest car market. According to data from the Indian Automotive Manufacturers Association cited by Fortune India's website on the 14th, total domestic passenger car sales in India grew by 7.9% year-on-year, reaching 4.64 million vehicles, marking a new record high during the fiscal year from April 1 of last year to March 31 of this year.
