Delta Air Lines stated that the fee for the first checked bag purchased starting on Wednesday will increase by $10. This adjustment comes as the airline industry is facing a sharp increase in fuel costs. Southwest Airlines stated in a release: "As part of ongoing business analysis and in response to the evolving global landscape, Southwest Airlines will increase the fees for the first and second checked bags by $10, applicable to all bookings made or rebooked on or after April 9, 2026."
