European Central Bank officials warn that the economy is heading towards an "adverse path."
Geopolitical conflicts have caused energy prices to skyrocket, leading to the euro area inflation rate exceeding the 2% alert line. Primoz Dolenc, a European Central Bank official and the Governor of the Bank of Slovenia, issued a stern warning, stating that the euro area economy may have already entered the "adverse" path warned by the bank earlier, and faces the risk of faster inflation taking root than in 2022. Market expectations for the central bank to raise interest rates as early as April have increased, and the global macroeconomic environment is facing serious challenges.
