Chief Economist of DBS Group: The blockage issue of the Hormuz Strait is unlikely to be resolved quickly.
Taimur Baig, Chief Economist of DBS Group, said that allowing more ships to safely pass through the Strait of Hormuz may not necessarily be the solution that some people hoped for. Iran is allowing more ships to pass, and some goods are also passing through, but Baig pointed out that the frequency of goods circulation is low. "Even if there is a safe passage for countries like India and Singapore, the speed of passage will be much slower, and there is always a possibility of mishaps. So I'm not completely sure that this can solve the issue," he said. Passing through this waterway still appears to be a high-risk operation, and the inflation impact of slowing down strait traffic seems inevitable.
