Hubei Financial Regulatory Bureau issued a letter of reminder: It is strictly prohibited to illegally give out "special drug cards," "CAR-T cards," and other equity cards to insurance consumers.
The Hubei Regulatory Bureau of the National Financial Regulatory Authority recently issued a letter to insurance institutions within its jurisdiction on regulating the provision of external benefits in insurance business activities in the form of "special medicine cards" and other similar forms to policyholders or insureds. The letter explicitly points out that the providers of "special medicine cards", "CAR-T cards", and other equity cards are third-party organizations that do not have financial business operation qualifications, and their products imitate insurance products in terms of terms and compensation responsibilities, which may easily lead to disputes between consumers and third-party organizations and insurance companies. Insurance companies are strictly prohibited from giving consumers equity cards in insurance business activities; prohibited from purchasing, stockpiling, and distributing equity cards for invitation, promotion, and follow-up; prohibited from linking equity cards to insurance companies in the promotion and explanation of insurance products, misleading consumers into thinking that the benefits of equity cards are provided by the insurance company; prohibited from misleading insurance consumers by ambiguously combining the functions of special medicine subsidies, expense reimbursement claimed by equity cards with the insurance coverage responsibilities, thus exaggerating insurance responsibilities and deceiving insurance consumers.
