The United States confirms Tesla's $4.3 billion deal with LG Energy Solutions for a battery factory.
The US Department of the Interior announced that Tesla and LG Energy Solution are expanding their cooperation through a supply agreement to build a $4.3 billion lithium iron phosphate battery manufacturing plant in Lansing, Michigan, with production expected to start in 2027. The batteries produced at this US factory will power Tesla's Megapack 3 energy storage systems produced in Houston, creating a strong battery supply chain. This is part of a $56 billion agreement reached by the Trump administration at the Indo-Pacific Energy Security Summit.
