The U.S. government bypasses congressional review, approves over $1.5 billion in military sales to Israel.
On March 6 local time, the US State Department announced that it has approved the sale of approximately $151.8 million worth of munitions and related support services to Israel. The State Department said in a statement that Israel requested to purchase 12,000 BLU-110A/B General Purpose Bombs. US Secretary of State Pompeo determined that there is an "emergency situation," and therefore, it is necessary to "bypass the congressional review process" to immediately complete this arms sale to Israel.
