"Pride of Africa" luxury train derails in Namibia, causing 2 deaths and 4 injuries.
Namibia National Railways Corporation confirmed in a statement on the 1st that the luxury train "Pride of Africa" derailed in the south of the country early that morning, resulting in 2 deaths and 4 injuries. The statement said the accident occurred at around 5 a.m. local time, about 100 kilometers south of the southern city of Keetmanshoop in Namibia. Following the accident, the Namibian National Railways Corporation has activated an emergency response plan, dispatched personnel to the scene for rescue, and is cooperating with relevant departments to investigate the cause of the accident. The Namibian police later confirmed that there were a total of 36 staff and 45 passengers on board the "Pride of Africa" train at the time of the incident. The injured have been taken to hospital for treatment. The police have not yet disclosed the nationality of the deceased and injured.
