According to informed sources, in recent months, officials from multiple federal agencies in the United States have expressed concerns about the safety and reliability of the artificial intelligence tools of Elon Musk's xAI company. This highlights the ongoing internal disagreement within the US government on which AI models to deploy. Following these warnings, the Pentagon made a decision this week to allow xAI's chatbot Grok to be used in classified scenarios, incorporating it into some of the highest sensitive and most confidential operations in the United States. An abstract from a report by the General Services Administration on January 15 stated that Grok-4 does not meet the security and alignment expectations required for federal government generic and experimental AI platforms. A spokesperson for the General Services Administration stated that their evaluation only applies to their agency, and each agency will adopt different criteria based on its "specific business mission and risk tolerance."
