China Automobile Dealers Association: Significant pressure on automobile terminal retail sales in February.
The China Automobile Dealers Association stated that in February 2026, the terminal retail of cars will be significantly under pressure. Due to the long Spring Festival holiday, the effective sales days are reduced, coupled with the migration of people returning home for the festival, resulting in a sharp decrease in store traffic. At the same time, the pre-holiday inventory clearance, adjustment of new energy vehicle purchase tax policies, and consumers' expectations of discounts and promotions at the spring car shows have intensified consumers' tendency to wait and see. According to this survey, 76.8% of dealers reported that their sales in February did not meet expectations. In addition, after the implementation of the "Guidelines for Price Behavior Compliance in the Automotive Industry", the phenomenon of price inversion has improved, with 25.6% of dealers reporting a slight improvement in the situation, and more than 70% of dealers believing that there has been no significant change. In terms of profitability for dealers, 20.7% of dealers reported an increase in profitability.
