South Korea's Hyundai Motor Company is heavily investing in AI and robots.
On the 27th, the South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport announced that Hyundai Motor Group signed an agreement with the South Korean government to invest about 9 trillion Korean won in the construction of artificial intelligence data centers, robot manufacturing factories, and other development projects in the western coastal region of the country. The ministry stated that Hyundai Motor Group will invest about 5.8 trillion Korean won in building an AI data center that will utilize 50,000 computing graphics cards, and will spend 400 billion Korean won to build a factory for producing robots. In addition, the group will invest 1 trillion Korean won in hydrogen production facilities, and another 1.3 trillion Korean won in solar power generation. According to the South Korean newspaper "Chosun Ilbo", all of these projects will be located in the Sinwankim area of North Jeolla Province. Hyundai Motor Group is expanding its business scope from automobiles to cutting-edge industries such as AI, hydrogen, and robotics. In addition to cities with existing industrial foundations such as Ulsan and Gwangju, they are actively seeking investment locations in the southwestern region of South Korea.
