Musk's post implies "possible connection between Xinbaum and drug trafficking group", Mexican President: considering taking legal action.

According to Reuters, Mexican President Sinbohm stated on the 24th local time that she is considering taking legal action against American entrepreneur Musk. Prior to this, Musk posted on the social platform X, implying that Sinbohm had "connections" to a drug trafficking group. The report mentioned that at the time Musk made the above comments, the Mexican security forces captured and killed the leader of the "Nueva Generacin cartel" in the state of Jalisco, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes. Musk retweeted a video of Sinbohm talking about the issue of violence caused by drug cartels in 2025 and said she was "parroting what the drug cartel leaders told her to say". The report stated that Musk did not provide further evidence for these statements. In response, Sinbohm stated at a morning press conference on the 24th that "we are considering whether to take legal action" and that Mexican government lawyers are reviewing the matter. The report mentioned that if Sinbohm were to file a defamation lawsuit against Musk in the United States and hope to win, she would need to prove that Musk knew the content of his statements was false at the time or spoke without regard for the truth despite knowing it might not be true.
