The US Federal Appeals Court rejected the request from the prediction market platform Kalshi.
The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has rejected Kalshi's emergency application, which aimed to prevent Nevada from obstructing the prediction market platform from offering relevant contracts in the gambling city of the United States. Kalshi had filed a motion with the US Court of Appeals in Las Vegas, seeking an administrative stay of Nevada's civil enforcement action against the company. However, within hours, the state Gaming Control Board filed enforcement proceedings against Kalshi in the Nevada state court. Attorney Daniel Worak, specializing in gambling regulatory law, said the case could ultimately force Kalshi to withdraw from Nevada. "This is a major setback for Kalshi," Worak said. He stated on Tuesday that the case could potentially be appealed to the Supreme Court as soon as tonight. A female spokesperson for Kalshi declined to comment.
