The South African radio telescope discovered the most distant known hydroxyl megamaser.

On the 17th, the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory announced that astronomers have captured a hydrogen megamasar located more than 8 billion light-years away from Earth using the South African MeerKAT radio telescope. This is the furthest hydrogen megamasar ever detected from Earth.
