The State Council Information Office held a press conference this morning to introduce the "Modern Capital Metropolitan Space Coordination Plan" and answered questions from reporters. A relevant official from Tianjin City introduced that in recent years, the scale of inter-city travel between Beijing and Tianjin has steadily increased. By 2025, the daily average inter-city travel volume will reach 225,000 people. The interaction between Beijing and Tianjin has become a daily routine for many people, with seamless transitions between work, study, life, and consumption scenes between the two cities. In this plan, Beijing and Tianjin will be integrated into a functional zone, while Tianjin's Wuqing District will be integrated into a commuting zone, making personnel exchange and economic integration between the two cities even closer. Currently, there are four high-speed railways connecting Beijing and Tianjin, as well as six expressways like Jingjin and Jingbin that directly reach Beijing. The transportation "one card pass" covers all subways and buses. Next, efforts will be made to improve the three-dimensional transportation network connecting Beijing and Tianjin, further enhance intercity railway capacity, and upgrade and expand Tianjin South Station and Wuqing Station. Additional investments will be made in public transportation and customized rapid bus services to improve the transportation convenience between Beijing and Tianjin, strengthen the connections between cross-border regions like Tongwu Corridor and Pingji Sanyan, and create a convenient and efficient "twin city" of Beijing and Tianjin.
