Yamato: Self-driving taxis win investors' trust with their business model and profitability.
In a report, analysts at Daiwa wrote that in the past few months, investors' confidence in autonomous taxis has improved, thanks to significant progress in global deployment and regulatory compliance of autonomous taxis. They stated that Pony.ai achieved breakeven in unit economics in the third quarter in Guangzhou and the fourth quarter in Shenzhen, marking a milestone in commercialization. They mentioned that investors are now moving beyond the grand narrative of reshaping the entire transportation landscape with autonomous taxis, and are increasingly focusing on business models, unit economics, and realistic timelines for profitability. Daiwa reiterated its positive stance on the Chinese autonomous driving supply chain, with their top preferred stocks being WeRide, Pony.ai, and Horizon Robotics.
