Preliminary statistics released by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare on the 9th show that due to continued inflation, the real wages per capita in Japan in 2025 decreased by 1.3% compared to the previous year, marking a fourth consecutive year of decline. The report also indicates that in 2025, the average monthly nominal cash wages for Japanese workers increased by 2.3% compared to the previous year. However, due to the persistent rise in prices in Japan in recent years and a 3.7% increase in consumer prices last year, which exceeded the growth rate of nominal wages, real wage income continues to decline.
