After investigation, the monk involved, surnamed He, 44 years old, is a resident of Tanba Town, Wuchuan City. He was ordained at the Huigui Temple in Wuchuan City in December 2021, but he is not a registered religious professional. Due to violating temple management regulations, he was ordered to leave the Huigui Temple in February 2024. In January 2026, the monk requested to return to the temple but was refused and driven away by temple management personnel. On the evening of February 4th, around 8 p.m., the monk named He was stopped from jumping into the river on the bridge of Jiangxin Island by the police. He is currently in good health.
