American media: Nearly a thousand Google employees signed an open letter condemning the actions of ICE and other institutions.

According to a report by CNBC, nearly 1000 employees of Google have signed an open letter condemning recent actions taken by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection agencies. The letter urges Google to publicly disclose its collaboration with these agencies and to end its relationship with them. The letter mentioned that there have been deaths of U.S. citizens in actions carried out by immigration enforcement officers, describing the "violent incidents as shocking." It also pointed out that Google Cloud services are being used for CBP surveillance activities and ICE's immigration operations system, as well as CBP's use of Google's generative artificial intelligence technology. "We strongly oppose Google's collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security, CBP, and ICE," Google employees said. "We believe that our leadership has a moral and political responsibility to publicly disclose all contracts and collaborations with CBP and ICE, and to cut ties with them." The letter also calls on Google to acknowledge that employees are facing risks from ICE and to take measures to protect them.
