German machinery manufacturing orders fell by 5% in December.
The German Engineering Federation (VDMA) said on Wednesday that due to weak demand from non-eurozone countries, German mechanical engineering orders fell by 5% year-on-year in December last year, marking a sluggish end to the year. Although domestic orders increased by 7% in December, foreign orders fell by 9%, with orders within and outside the eurozone decreasing by 3% and 11% respectively. VDMA pointed out that the total orders in the industry in 2025 will remain the same as the previous year. The agency had previously predicted that due to trade conflicts and global uncertainty, the industry's actual output in 2025 will decrease by 5%.
