On January 29th, local time, Canadian company Bombardier released a statement saying that they had taken note of the comments made by US President Trump and had contacted the Canadian government. Bombardier stated that thousands of private and civil aircraft manufactured in Canada fly in US airspace every day, and they hoped that this issue could be resolved quickly to avoid significant impacts on air traffic and passengers. Earlier that day, Trump posted on his social media platform "Truth Social" stating that Canada had "erroneously, illegally, and persistently" refused to certify US Gulfstream 500, 600, 700, and 800 business jets, constituting unfair treatment towards American companies. In response, the US will temporarily suspend the certification of Bombardier's Global Express series and all aircraft manufactured in Canada until Gulfstream aircraft receive full certification.
