According to a report by the Competition Commission of Hong Kong on January 29, the Commission took enforcement action for two consecutive days on anti-competitive behavior in the building maintenance industry, conducting searches at 27 locations including the offices of 14 engineering contractors and consulting companies, as well as the residences of individuals involved. The report indicated that the companies in question are suspected of engaging in bid rigging and other anti-competitive practices during the tendering process for maintenance projects in 17 housing estates and buildings across Hong Kong, with an estimated total contract value of approximately 700 million Hong Kong dollars.
