On January 23, the official WeChat account of the Shanghai Table Tennis Association published a new article, mentioning that Wang Liqin had resigned from the position of chairman of the Shanghai Table Tennis Association. The article mentioned that on the morning of January 22, the Shanghai Table Tennis Association's 11th member representative conference held its fourth meeting at the Shanghai Chess Academy. At the meeting, Wang Liqin, who had previously served as the chairman of the 11th council of the Shanghai Table Tennis Association, voluntarily resigned from the position after being appointed as the chairman of the Chinese Table Tennis Association. In the midterm elections of the council, through an anonymous voting process, Shanghai Double Happiness Sports Co., Ltd. General Manager Lou Shihe was unanimously elected as the chairman of the 11th council. In April 2025, Wang Liqin succeeded Liu Guoliang as the new chairman of the Chinese Table Tennis Association. In December 2025, Wang Liqin was appointed as the deputy director of the Table Tennis and Badminton Sports Management Center. At the end of last year, Wang Liqin publicly stated that he will do his best to carry out the work of the Chinese Table Tennis Association and the Table Tennis and Badminton Center, actively preparing for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
