New study: The different "dryness" of two satellites of Jupiter may originate from their formation.
On the 20th, the French National Center for Scientific Research announced on its official website that while the volcanically active moon Io in the solar system shows completely dry and lacking water ice characteristics, its "neighbor" moon Europa may have liquid water oceans hidden beneath its icy shell. An international study involving this organization showed that this significant difference was not formed in later evolution, but was predetermined in the initial stages of their formation around Jupiter.
