A director of the Liaison Office in the Mainland has admitted to receiving hospitality, Hong Kong government: involved in violation and contract terminated, investigation being followed up by law enforcement agencies
According to a press release from the Hong Kong SAR government, in response to media queries regarding the director of the Hong Kong SAR Government Liaison Office in Tianjin, the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR government stated on January 21st: After conducting further investigations into the social media post by Mr. Zheng Zhen Sheng which raised concerns, the bureau believes that Mr. Zheng's incident of allegedly receiving an "upgrade" to his seat when he traveled to Macau by boat earlier, may have violated the provisions of the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance regarding civil servants accepting benefits without permission. The case has been referred to the law enforcement department for follow-up. Mr. Zheng is a contract employee of the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau, and the bureau has decided to terminate his contract immediately. According to reports from Hong Kong media such as Wen Wei Po and Hong Kong Commercial Daily, Zheng Zhen Sheng previously claimed on social media that he had "accepted arrangements from senior management of JetSpeed Aviation," traveled from Hong Kong to Macau in a private cabin, and had also been "lucky to be upgraded to a suite for free" when staying at a hotel in mainland China, raising suspicions of improper acceptance of benefits.
