The unified entrance examination for Japanese universities was recently conducted, and researchers achieved good results in answering exam questions using multiple artificial intelligence models, with the model from the Open Artificial Intelligence Research Center in the United States scoring full marks in 9 subjects. According to the report from the Nikkei Economic News on the 20th, the newspaper and the Japanese AI startup LifePrompt conducted this test. The analysis team used questions from the 2026 Japanese university entrance exam held on January 17th and 18th, allowing models such as OpenAI's GPT-5.2 Thinking and Google's Gemini 3.0 Pro to answer questions from 15 major subjects. The OpenAI model scored full marks in 9 subjects, with an average score of 96.9 when converted to a scale of 100 points per subject, while the Google model had an average score of 91.4.
