The Japanese government stated on January 16 that it has requested social media platform X to take measures to curb the behavior of using its artificial intelligence tool Grok to alter and sexualize images. Grok was developed by Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI, and is built into Musk's social media platform X. This tool has been abused to generate fake sexually explicit content based on real individuals, which has been spread on the X platform, with victims including many women and minors.
