Marathon Petroleum Company reported on Tuesday that a fire at its Galveston Bay refinery in Texas City, Texas, with a daily processing capacity of 631,000 barrels, has been extinguished. The company said in a filing with the state pollution control agency that the fire occurred in the alkylation unit 2 area on January 12, when residual hydrocarbons were ignited while draining a container.
