Spot silver rose by about 2.2%, and US stocks surged above $89 in early trading, hitting a record high.

On Tuesday, New York silver spot prices rose by 2.18% to $86.9515 per ounce in the afternoon session, with prices initially falling slightly to $83.4366 per ounce in the Asia-Pacific session to hit a daily low before shaking up and rising, reaching $89.1190 per ounce at 22:50 to set a new historical high before falling back slightly. COMEX silver futures rose by 2.04% to $86.830 per ounce, trading between $83.355 and $89.215 per ounce during the day, also hitting a historical high at 22:50. COMEX copper futures fell by 0.45% to $6.0045 per pound. On the daily chart, New York copper futures steadily moved away from the July 31, 2025 low of $4.4695, reaching $6.1125 on January 6. Spot platinum fell by 0.22% to $2338.21 per ounce, while spot palladium fell by 1.01% to $1837.95 per ounce.
