Christoph Rieger, of the research department of Deutsche Bank, stated in a report that the threat to the independence of the Federal Reserve is real, but the US CPI data on Tuesday may ease current concerns about the Fed being forced to cut interest rates unreasonably. The interest rate and credit bond research director said, "Although the data may still be distorted due to the government shutdown, the sharp decline in inflation pressure during October and November is unlikely to be reversed." Rieger stated that the slowdown in rental prices is becoming an important downward factor for core inflation. The Department of Justice is conducting a criminal investigation into the renovation project of the central bank involving Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. Powell stated that this is an excuse for US President Trump to put pressure on the Fed to lower interest rates.
