Google announced on the 11th that it will work with large retailers such as Walmart to expand the shopping functionality of its "Duplex" artificial intelligence (AI) model, pushing the Duplex app to upgrade from an "intelligent assistant" to a "virtual merchant" that can directly complete transactions. It is stated that the Duplex app will introduce an "instant checkout" feature, allowing consumers to complete product purchases from some merchants within the chat interface without having to open any external interfaces. John Furner, Walmart's incoming president and CEO, said that the shift from traditional web or app searches to "intelligent agent-driven commerce" represents the next significant evolution in the retail industry. Industry experts believe that the application of AI in the field of e-commerce and its impact on consumer behavior will be the focus of the conference. Google stated that the shopping functionality of the "Duplex" AI model will initially be open only to U.S. users and will expand to international markets in the coming months.
