The highly anticipated report released by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics on Thursday showed that the number of new jobs in the US in September far exceeded expectations. Nonfarm employment in the month increased by 119,000, while after revision, the US lost 4,000 jobs in August. The general expectation for nonfarm employment in September was 50,000. In addition to this key employment data, the Bureau of Labor Statistics also pointed out that the country's unemployment rate edged up slightly to 4.4%, hitting the highest level since October 2021. Average hourly wages in the month rose by 0.2% month-on-month and 3.8% year-on-year, while the previous expectations were 0.3% and 3.7%, respectively.
