Maersk's largest storage project in China has officially opened, allowing for the direct conversion of bonded and non-bonded goods within the area.
On November 20th, Maersk's comprehensive logistics flagship warehouse located in the special comprehensive bonded zone of the Yangshan Area of the Lingang New Area in the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone officially opened. The flagship warehouse was founded in 2023 with an investment of over 1 billion RMB, covering an area of 113,000 square meters and a storage area of 147,000 square meters, making it Maersk's largest warehouse investment project in China. "We are grateful for the relevant policy support, which enables Maersk to efficiently carry out customs operations and handle both bonded and non-bonded goods on the same site," said Maersk CEO Kelvin Soh. This means that Maersk will be approved by customs to implement a classification supervision policy, allowing bonded and non-bonded goods to be stored in the same warehouse and supporting their direct conversion within the area without the need for entry and exit checkpoints.
