The Hunan Procuratorate has filed a lawsuit against Zhou Jiabin for alleged bribery in accordance with the law.
The former party member and deputy director of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and former Secretary of the Guilin Municipal Party Committee, Zhou Jiabin, is suspected of bribery. The case has been investigated and concluded by the National Supervisory Commission, and transferred to the procuratorial organs for examination and prosecution. The Supreme People's Procuratorate has made a decision to arrest Zhou Jiabin on suspicion of bribery and appointed the People's Procuratorate of Changde City, Hunan Province to investigate and prosecute. Recently, the People's Procuratorate of Changde City, Hunan Province has filed a public prosecution with the Intermediate People's Court of Changde City, Hunan Province. During the stage of examination and prosecution, the procuratorial organs informed the defendant Zhou Jiabin of his litigation rights, interrogated the defendant, and listened to the opinions of the defense counsel. The procuratorial organs charged that Zhou Jiabin, through his positions as member of the Standing Committee of the Nanning Municipal Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, deputy mayor, Vice Secretary and Mayor of Beihai Municipal Party Committee, Vice Secretary and Mayor of Guilin Municipal Party Committee, Secretary and Director of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Housing and Urban-Rural Development Department, Secretary of Guilin Municipal Party Committee, and member of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and deputy director, took advantage of his positions to seek benefits for others, and used his own powers or status to seek improper benefits for others through the acts of other state functionaries. He illegally accepted property from others in a particularly large amount, and should be held criminally responsible for the crime of bribery according to law.
