Dutch senior official: Intervention in ASML has been suspended.
According to Global Times, Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs Kaaremans announced on social media X on November 19 that the intervention in ASM International has been suspended. He said, "Given recent developments, I believe now is the right time to take constructive steps." Kaaremans stated on November 13 local time that a Dutch government delegation will go to China before the beginning of next week to seek a solution to the issues related to ASM International, a subsidiary of China's SMIC. On November 13, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce stated that since the issue of ASM International occurred, China has always adopted a responsible attitude towards the stability and security of the global semiconductor supply chain, and has held multiple rounds of consultations with the Dutch side, and agreed to the request from the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs to send representatives for consultations in China. We hope that the Dutch side will show a sincere willingness to cooperate with the Chinese side, promptly propose substantive and constructive solutions to the problem, and take practical actions to quickly and effectively restore the safety and stability of the global semiconductor supply chain from the source.
