Tesla is allowed to provide ride-hailing services in Arizona.
Tesla has been granted permission to operate ride-hailing services in Arizona, which is one of the target regions for its eventual operation of autonomous taxi services. The Arizona Department of Transportation announced on Tuesday via email that Tesla has been granted a transportation network company license on November 17, which is the qualification needed for Tesla to operate ride-hailing services in the state. Tesla CEO Elon Musk had previously predicted that by the end of this year, Tesla would be operating its so-called "autonomous taxi" service in multiple states, including Arizona. Currently, Tesla has launched ride-hailing services in the initial pilot markets of Austin and the San Francisco Bay Area, but in these markets, vehicles called by users still require human safety supervisors in the driver's seat or passenger seat and have not yet implemented autonomous passenger service without safety personnel.
