On the 17th, more than 30 teams including the Taiwan Labor Party, Taiwan Social Good Forum Preparatory Committee, and Cross-Strait Peace Development Forum jointly issued a protest statement: Strongly protesting against Japanese Prime Minister Taro Kono's reckless remarks on Taiwan, the people of Taiwan refuse to become sacrifices of Japanese militarism. The protest statement stated that recently, Japanese Prime Minister Taro Kono publicly declared in the parliament that the Taiwan issue could pose a "life-threatening crisis" for Japan, and suggested military intervention in the Taiwan Strait. Kono is using the "Taiwan issue" to push for strategic escalation, not for the benefit of Taiwan, but to legitimize the expansion of Japan's right-wing military. By turning the Taiwan issue as a matter of Japan's "life and death" as the prime minister, he is essentially using national power to justify military actions, which is a blatant provocation to the existing agreements and post-war order between China and Japan. This blatant military language openly interferes in China's internal affairs, and at the expense of the safety and lives of the people of Taiwan, seriously jeopardizing peace in the Taiwan Strait and the region, and disrupting the post-war order in Asia. We hereby express our strongest protest: the people of Taiwan refuse to be sacrifices of Japanese militarism and military adventures.
