Official response from Zhangjiagang City, Jiangsu Province: The fire at Wenchang Pavilion was caused by tourists accidentally igniting candles.

On November 12, a fire broke out at the Wenchang Pavilion in Fenghuang Mountain, Fenghuang Town, Zhangjiagang City, Jiangsu Province. There were no casualties and it did not affect the surrounding forest area. Today, Zhangjiagang City issued a bulletin stating that, according to preliminary investigations, the fire was caused by visitors accidentally igniting candles.
