The "White Paper on the Development of China's Micro Short Film Industry", compiled by the China Network Audiovisual Association, was announced at the Third Hangzhou Micro Short Film Conference. From January to August 2025, major comprehensive video platforms have launched 325 horizontal micro short films. The number of vertical screen dramas launched on short video platforms, mini programs, and micro short film applications has also increased. It is estimated that by the end of 2025, about 40,000 independently produced and launched vertical screen dramas will be online. The supply of large-screen end is also showing explosive growth, as of September 2025, 94 micro short films have been broadcast on national satellite channels, an increase of 261.5% compared to the same period last year. There are a total of 100,200 micro short film-related companies in China, with 16,800 new related companies registered in the first nine months of 2025, a year-on-year increase of 12.57%. The significant improvement in content quality has led to a continuous increase in user stickiness. From January to August 2025, the average daily usage time of micro short film applications reached 120.5 minutes, with an increase of 25.9% since January.
