On November 7, 2025, during the Xiamen International Ocean Week, the Ministry of Natural Resources held an event in Xiamen to promote the transformation of innovative achievements in the field of marine biology under the National Key Research and Development Program and industrial cooperation. The person in charge of the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Natural Resources stated that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, with the support of the National Key Research and Development Program, the Ministry of Natural Resources has implemented 22 projects focusing on key directions such as exploration of marine biological resources, excavation of active substances, creation of high-value products, and green aquaculture technology. They have overcome a series of key technologies and produced a large number of landmark achievements that are "convertible, implementable, and profitable", promoting the leap of China's marine biological industry from "lagging behind" to "keeping pace with" and "leading ahead". The Ministry of Natural Resources will continue to optimize policy supply, strengthen result tracking, and work together with research institutes and enterprises to create a "research and development-transformation-industry" closed-loop model, fully unleash the innovation dividends of the National Key Research and Development Program, constantly promote the output and transformation of major scientific and technological achievements during the "14th Five-Year Plan", and transform more research and development results from laboratories into new productive forces. Looking ahead to the "15th Five-Year Plan", the Ministry of Natural Resources will closely cooperate with the Ministry of Science and Technology and other departments, coordinate resources, continue to deploy tasks in the development and utilization of marine biological resources in the national science and technology plan, strive for self-reliance and self-improvement in high-level technology, lead the development of new productive forces in the marine sector, and help achieve high-level development, utilization, and protection of marine resources.
